Cleanliness is to a high standard and a nutritional, varied diet. Very pleased with the level of care.
The care home always appears to be a happy place to work at and that is reflected in the high standard of care.

Excellent care given to my bedbound grandmother.
She is treated with utmost respect and very well looked after.
Her room is spotless, the bed is always freshly changed, whatever day of the week I choose to visit.
Couldn't ask for more for her!

The location of the Care Home is excellent and my wife enjoys being taken for a walk down the hill to the river when the weather is kind.

The care my mother receives is second to none and all the staff are excellent. Mother's room is very light and airy and is well-kept. All meals are of a good standard. I would recommend this home to anyone.

About Us

Beech Lodge is situated in St Austell, Cornwall.

Beech Lodge stands in 7.5 acres of beautifully planted mature trees and camellias, with Rhododendrons bursting into bloom throughout spring and early summer. Perched high upon the hill side, with great views of the viaduct and railway line.
The Home is situated over two floors, with access via stairs or lift.  All bedrooms are for single occupancy, with 26 rooms being en-suite.  We have two bright and comfortable lounges with access to a communal television.  Our large communal dining room offers a pleasant seating area with lovely views over the garden and surrounding landscape.  The Home has lovely secure mature gardens with seating areas and raised beds for activities.
All Laundry is done on site, but our efficient housekeeping team.  Residents are encouraged to personalise their bedroom with personal belongings.  At Beech Lodge we aim to that all residents as individuals and provide a place where people are valued, safe and well cared for with dignity and discretion.

Our History

Beech Lodge was originally the home of the founder of the St Austell Brewery. The house was built in around 1851.

At the entrance to Beech lodge is the historical site of Menacuddle Well.

Menacuddle well and the Druids Chair is located in a green area below the road to St Austell and the well house butts tightly against the twenty foot high wall. It is surrounded by trees and rhododendron bushes, beside a gentle stream and a waterfall.

The small granite well house was originally built in the late 15th. century and restored by Sir Charles Graves Sawle in 1922. A Gothic archway leads into the peaceful sanctuary where the crystal clear water springs forth, in glaring contrast to the milky white, china clay tainted water flowing in the river beside it. In the Middle Ages there was an important chapel in the area adjoining this well house, although no trace of it now remains.
